This was a quote on my google home page yesterday and it REALLY annoyed me. I generally leave politics alone and don't think I've been very political on my blog.
In light of these facts:
Many families where no adult works or certainly does not work full time receive:
- Up to $900 in food stamps.
- Get SSI money (about $600/month) for their kids diagnosed with ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, etc.
- Get welfare
- Get free child care
- Get pratically free medical, dental care, and vision care--they do have copays of a few dollars for some things
I realize that some families need this help for a short time or need it because they are truly unable to work due to serious health problems. I think we should help these people. I have issues when we this becomes their career choice and there is not effort to work and support themselves!
THEREFORE a liberal is:
- a man with two perfectly good legs who has learned to walk , but has decided the rest of the world should carry him while he complains about how the world is not carrying him properly and giving him the shaft OR
- a man who has decided to walk but thinks you should help those who have chosen not to walk with someone ELSE's money (someone with less money than themselves usually), NOT their money--their care and concern is usually a cover to advance some type of poilitical chicanery.
