Contentment (Part 2 of 3)

Remember God's Promises

To be content, we need to remember God's promises to take care of us and provide for our needs. If we don't have it, we don't need it. Many times we get our wants and needs confused. The Corvette I've always dreamed of would really probably only get me into a heap of trouble and traffic tickets (not to mention give me a swelled head for owning one when YOU don't!) There are times when the cupboard may look bear, the bank empty, but God has promised to take care of us! David said in Psalm 37:25 I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread

Matthew 6:31-34
Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Having an active attitude of thankfulness really makes all the difference when you get in those "bare cupboard" times. Remembering how God has provided in the past calms my spirit and increases my faith.

Very true. Thank you for that reminder!
