Think On These Things Thursday

John 17:13-17
And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.  I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.  I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.  They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

I read this passage this morning and was struck with the way Jesus prayed for His disciples right before He knew that He was going to be taken and suffer many things for us.  He could have prayed for strength for Himself, but He was more concerned about those around Him.

John 20:20-23
Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.  And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

Then I read this passage and realized that He also prayed for everyone who would believe in Him and trust Him as Savior.  I may have known this at one point, but how neat to know that Jesus prayed for each one of His children who currently were His children and who would later become His children!  Jesus said a prayer for me and for you if you are a child of His!

The other thing I wanted to point out is that in todays world of twisted ideologies and everyone doing what "they" think is best or "feels right", the only place to truly find the Truth is in the Bible.  Not from philosphy books or even Pastors.  We need to make sure that what we are believing and see as Truth lines up with the Bible.
